Entrance Requirements for Massage Therapy School
Like every other school or courses, massage therapy schools and courses have their own entrance requirements. However, these requirements vary from one school to another but there are the constant requirements. When you are considering a career in massage therapy or taking a course in that, you should self analyze. Most of these schools require someone with a high school diploma. If you have a post-secondary education, you have an added advantage. Some schools may require that you have prior training or knowledge in some areas or subjects for example, some sciences that specialize in the physical anatomy as well as physiology; some humanities; business as well as psychology. Since massage therapy is not about the physical aspect only then you are required to also have some special skills. This will enable you to balance the art as well as science healing aspect of massage therapy. Some schools will make you go through an interview that will determine whether you have a capacity of empathy. You need to be understanding, slow to anger and be able to build a good and trusting rapport with your clients. Some people have very poor listening skills which is a requirement in any therapy. You also need very strong communication skills. All this skills might be tested before the school lets you enroll. Some schools are known to waive some entrance requirements for part-time students. You should research and compare what the entrance requirements are for the different schools. The entrance requirements may also vary depending on the type of massage therapy technique.
